One… Two… Three!

Admit it… we’ve all done that.
Get your shoes on before I count to three…or else.

Enter Ginger Plowman.

This is by far one of my favorite parenting books.
We read this when Charlotte was 15 months…
Again when Carson was about 14 months…
And I go to it often for encouragement and back up in my parenting.

This book is FULL of scriptural principles and teaching
for parenting and particularly discipline.
Principles I so desperately need to practice more often!

A Few Highlights from the Book:

  • Reaching the heart of your children
  • Using Biblical terms in correcting vs worldly terms
  • Correcting with Scripture
  • Leading children to obedience (obeying God and parents)
  • Not making light of sin
  • Knowing the difference between disobedience and childishness
  • How to give a Biblical reproof
  • How to carry out healthy Biblical discipline

I am so convicted about my parenting as I even write this out.
This book truly grounds you in a solid foundation of scripture and is a resource every parent should have!

If you have infants, I recommend reading it from ages 12-16m (or earlier) to really prepare you as you enter into those disobedient toddler years.

If you have toddlers or preschoolers, I recommend reading it as a reminder of Biblical parenting.  I have learned from many friends sometimes you need to hit “restart” on your parenting an discipline techniques.  We have had to do this many times and “revamp” our parenting. I think we need to do it again soon!

Have you read this book?
What are you favorite principles from it?

Haven’t read this book?

Well…Good news.
Because this is none other than…

  1. Borrowed a copy from a friend when Sandra was younger, but never bought my own. I need to reread it right now, as Reuben is 21 mos. Would love my own copy!

  2. Okay- I'm entering this contest! I know I may be getting a head start, but I was looking at Berkley yesterday as he screamed when I walked out of the room and thought, "I'm going to have my hands full in just a few short months." I need all the help I can get. Is it possible to know that your 6 month old is going to be a strong-willed child?! :)

  3. This looks great. At 19 months we are really getting into the throws of discipline. I could use some guidance

  4. I have read this book too. It is definitely very convicting but has some great principles that I need to do a better job of implementing. Sometimes I feel like it sets the bar super high and there is no way to attain it, but I think that is what God calls for us to work towards. Would love to have a copy of this book!

  5. I follow you on twitter and I am subscribed to your blog!

  6. I need a copy of this book because of two little girls name Lucy Kate and Ella Grace!!

  7. i love this book & had read about 2 chapters when i left it in a rental car in LA last year! would love to have it again.

  8. This is what I needed today. Hannah and I seem to be at war. I was looking forward to 3 but it seems to be worse than 2. Definately will put on my read list whether I win or not!

  9. I SO NEED THIS BOOK!!!! Macyn and I seem to always "butting heads" about everything. I have really been praying about it lately :) I think some new ideas and strategies would be very helpful!

  10. I subscribe to your blog :) Hope I win your book :) How's the ankle?

  11. I need this book to remind myself to be thankful of imperfect parenting days. We have a 3 year old, a two year old, and a new one any day now! Shew, I'm tired! :)

  12. Oh my gosh!! I've been looking for this book and just didn't want to buy it yet! Maybe it'll be my lucky day!!

  16. I just heard about this book from another mother at Blissdom! She said it was her favorite too. So if I don't win it looks like I'll be needing to get my hands on this books somehow.

Thanks for your kind words and for letting me know about your giveaway!

  17. Sounds like one that I could use with some pretty crazy Smith boys!

  18. would LOVE to have this book. It would benefit us well since we are about 1.5 months away from having a two year old -- the TWOS seem to be starting -- full of energy, independence, and force. thanks!
